My rating: 5 of 5 star

On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida.

From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity and a new life in the midst of the gang’s base on the edge of the Florida Everglades—a frightening, rough and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival.
And at the center of it all is the gang’s leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. She becomes his obsession and the one true love of his life.

So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows and forced to lean on the one person who provides attention, affection and care: her captor. Precocious and intelligent, but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity.

Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive—or get out at all? Part psychological thriller, part coming-of-age novel, filled with mystery, romance and unexpected turns, Nine Minutes takes readers into the world of one motorcycle gang and inside the heart of a young girl, whose abduction brought about its fall.

I read this book in one night, and then a few weeks later I read it again so that I could write this review. Yeah, it’s that kind of book, at least it was for me. Long story short, the heroine, Ginny is kidnapped at 15 and eventually falls for the man that holds her captive. This book kept my attention the entire time I read it, both times. It is a captivating story that is well written and at times shocking, but I guarantee that once you start this book you won't be able to walk away.

The story is told from Kit’s (Ginny) POV and reads like a diary entry. You see the world of the Satan’s Army MC through the eyes of a 15 year kidnapped girl but when reading the story, you don’t get the feeling that she’s a victim. As she grows and her feelings for Grizz changes, so does the way Kit view her world. Her priorities change, and it becomes more about loving and protecting Grizz and the MC.

Grizz is not a man to be crossed. He is a ruthless killer and at times inhumane in handing out punishment.  But he never unleashed any of that brutality on Kit. When interacting with her,  he is a gentle giant. He loves her (in some fashion) from the first moment he sees her. Ginny is his obsession and Kit is his soul mate, the love of his life, and he treats her like it from the beginning.

Nine Minutes is your typical MC romance novel.  It doesn’t include any of the raunchiness or debaucheries that have become the norm in MC reads. There is sex and violence though it’s not explicit or told in great detail. There is the issue of the age difference between the Grizz and Kit (Ginny) but their relationship is not presented in a way that is creepy or taboo. Nine Minutes is a love story. One that pulled me in and held me long after I finished reading the book, both times earning a well deserved five stars.
