Fame is a bitch... And a half.

Being a big star has its perks, but Caden Carlisle is in love with his costar, Brooklyn Halloway, and the movie studio demands that they keep it under wraps to ensure big box office success.

Cade always disliked the spotlight, preferring to focus on the work, but coupled with the ruthless stalking of rabid paparazzi, the secrecy forced upon his new and fragile relationship, and the vindictive games of others, celebrity status turns into a curse.

Can the roller coaster of emotions bring them closer still, or will jealousy and distance rip them apart forever?
Kahlen Aymes turns up the heat and cranks up the angst in FAMOUS Novel Two; the continuation of Cade and Brook's incredible love story... Because there's more to fame than meets the eye.

It was only two blocks and it was 3 AM Tokyo time, but for us it was hours earlier. I didn't let go of her hand as I led her out of the club. It felt so good to have her by my side.
"Do you feel like walking?" I missed walking but in the States or at home, I didn't get enough of it since my career blew up.
"Sure. That sounds nice," she murmured as we left the bar.  It was cool, but not overly so, and the rain had stopped.
I felt her free hand wrap around my bicep of the arm that held her hand, and her head came down on my shoulder. She let out a deep sigh, as we walked the few blocks back to the hotel.
"Are you doing okay with this, Brook? Being with me like this?" I could hear the desire in my voice as I leaned closer to whisper in her ear.
"Uh huh. I've really missed you." She raised her eyes to mine and the need in the blue depths shone like a beacon. She drew a shaky breath and let it out.
"Brook," I almost groaned. "I've missed you too. You were so beautiful today, and I loved how you flirted with me.” I smiled softly as I looked down into her face as we walked. “It was all I could do not to sweep you up in my arms right there in front of everyone. These last months have been hell, love."
I felt heat radiate between us, despite the coolness of the night as we drew near the front entrance of the hotel. I glanced down at Brook's face and saw that her brow was knitted in a frown.
I didn't say anything as we walked through the hotel and took the elevator up to the 23rd floor. Both of our rooms were on this floor and I wondered if she'd want me to join her in hers. My heart thumped harder as we got closer to her room. I didn't want to be presumptuous after all that had happened, but I desperately wanted more time with her.
Exactly what had happened? I reminded myself that I still didn't know.
Outside her room, I took her shoulders and turned her toward me. I wanted to take her in my arms and kiss her breathless, but knew we needed to talk first. I raised my hand to her face and placed a whisper soft kiss on her luscious pink lips. When I drew away, her chin lifted toward my mouth for another kiss and I gave it to her.  This one was longer, lingering, our lips playing with each other.  My body sprung to life, but my heart still ached over the abyss we’d had between us.  I needed it resolved before I could make love to her.
My God. She tastes so good, all wine and sweetness. I felt my breath leave my body and fan over her face. Her eyes were closed as she raised her mouth toward mine, again.
"Brook. I want more time with you. What do you want?" I felt her tremble in my arms and step up on tiptoe to press her mouth to mine again. I could feel desire flood through me. Jesus, it had been so long since I touched her.
"Cade.” She said my name and it did something to me deep inside my soul.   “I want you to come in with me."  Maybe it was my imagination but she sounded like she was begging and I wouldn’t be able to deny her, even if I didn’t want to do as she asked.
I couldn't help myself, my mouth swooped to open hotly over hers and her arms instantly went around my neck and into my hair.  Oh, there it was. I felt those gorgeous hands tugging in my hair, to pull my mouth even closer to hers. I pressed her up against the hotel room door as I devoured her, my tongue seeking the deepest recesses of her mouth. I couldn't get enough and my body strained against her, I pressed my hardness into her stomach and she moaned.
I drug my mouth from hers and placed my forehead on hers, both of us panting wildly. I struggled to get control of my breathing and the urges that were surging through every nerve and sinew of my body. Brook pressed her card key into my hand and I reached behind her to put it in the slot. My mouth ghosted and licked at hers as I heard the door click and I pushed it open behind her. My arm went around her waist and I lifted her with me through the door and her arms and legs went around my body.
"Oh God, Cade." My arm still around her waist, the other one went underneath her bottom as I carried her into the room. I buried my face in her hair as I kissed her neck and shoulders.
Trying to get in control of myself, I went to the bed and sat down with her still wrapped around me. I stroked her back. "Brook. I want you so much right now. So much. But baby, we should talk first."
I brought both of my hands into her hair and pulled her head back so I could look into her eyes. I nuzzled into her throat as I took a deep breath. "We need to talk," I whispered against her skin.
She shook her head as she buried her face in my shoulder, her hands stroking the back of my head. "Please, just make love to me.  Just make love to me." My body surged at her words, but I wanted to get her back into my life... not just into my bed and I told her so.
I shook my head. "No Brook. Not until we talk.  I want us back, every piece of us. Please talk to me. Why did you push me away? What did I do?"
She stiffened in my arms. "Please don't make me relive it! I can't. It hurts too much."

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my mind was too active… I would want to change the script.I would watch films and think of ways they could have improved the story if they took another direction so i thought it best that i tell my own.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.
When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
You can find me on Facebook where I love interacting with my readers.

Blurb
Oblivion is a sweet, sweet place.
No pain. No disturbing thoughts of the past. No guilt from my recent actions.
Deep down, there is still a part of me that knows how screwed up I am. I don’t see a way out, not now. Tria’s gone, and the possibility of her forgiving me in my current state is exactly zero. I know I have to pull myself together, accept my responsibilities, and try to make amends, but I have no idea where to start.
No job. No apartment. I’m living on the streets with the other junkies. As little as I had to offer Tria before, I have nothing to give her now. The only way out is to come clean and tell Tria the truth about my past, but the idea of reliving the memories is so painful, I can’t think about it long enough to figure out a solution.
I’ve hit rock bottom, and I don’t even know which way is up any more.

Excerpt #1
I reached out and touched the edge of the pillow.  It was insanely soft and warm.  I stroked it, and images of Tria’s breasts crawled through my head, making me smile.  I stroked my cock as I thought about her, but I couldn’t come.
I could hear a voice in the other room, but it didn’t concern me, so I didn’t move.  Through heavy eyelids, I watched the piles of dirty laundry all over the floor.  I found shapes of animals in the patterns, just like cloud pictures.
“The beans are gone.”
I rolled my head to the side and looked up at Krazy Katie’s face.  I smiled and tried to say something, but my tongue wasn’t cooperating.  I focused on her eyes as they stared down at me quizzically.
“Trains need an engineer,” Krazy Katie said.
“It’s okay,” I said.  My tongue still felt weird, all numb and heavy.  I twisted it around in my mouth, and it tickled my teeth.  I blinked a couple of times before looking back at my neighbor.  “I got the helm.  I’m all good.”
Did trains have a helm, or was that just boats?  I laughed.
Krazy Katie covered her eyes with one hand.  I could see her chest rising and falling as she took long breaths.  I started counting slowly in my head but quickly forgot the number.
“Left the station,” she said quietly.  “No engineer.  Kicked in the caboose.  Nothing but tracks.”
She turned in slow motion, and I watched vapor trails of her dull blue T-shirt swirl around the room as she left.  I heard the window slide shut and then silence.
“I’m all good,” I whispered.
There was no reply.
Even though my arms and legs were way too content to be bothered with moving, I shoved myself out of bed anyway.  My rig was sitting on the kitchen table, all ready to go.  I was still pretty high, but I could feel darkness closing in around me, and I didn’t want it.
I wanted warmth and happiness.
Plastic tube, arm slap, needle prick.
“Like a fucking pro.”
I lay my head on the table as the fluid sensations rippled through me.  Tria didn’t matter.  She’d forgive me in time.  In fact, she was probably already over it.  How could she not be?
“I’m good.  Really, I am.”
I was never one to lie to myself, but it was getting easier all the time.

Excerpt #2

Released Excerpt 1
I watched Yolanda walk out of the cage.  Apparently, I kept looking in her direction too long.  I took a blow to the head before I realized the fight had started.
I stumbled back, shook my head, and regained my footing.  I raised my fists up in front of my face, and danced lightly on my toes, waiting for his next move.  We circled slowly, jabbing but not finding our marks.  My head swam again.
I needed to put an end to this.  I needed to get it over with so I could take my winnings and get more smack.  I had come down too hard and too fast.  I had to get straight again.
I rushed him, striking out with my right and then my left.  I took an elbow to the face, and felt my neck snap back.
The next thing I knew, I was on my back, and the guy was straddling my chest.  I registered my head being thrown from side to side with punches, but I couldn’t focus enough to get him off me.  I jabbed at his sides, but it was ineffective.
With my head spinning, I slammed my hand against the ground three times.
“Woo hoo!”  The challenger jumped off of me and started running around the small cage.
I could hear cheers, boos, and people screaming at me, but I couldn’t comprehend the words.  I rolled over and pushed myself up before stumbling out of the cage.
“Jesus, Liam!”  Back in the locker room, Yolanda fussed around the cut over my eye and my bloody lip as I tried to push her hands away and get my jeans back on.  “What the hell is wrong with you tonight?”
“Just forget it!” I yelled.  “I need to get going.”
“Oh yeah?  Why’s that?  You got nothing waiting for you at home.”
I pulled my shoulders close together and bit down on the pad of my thumb.  I didn’t remember telling Yolanda about Tria leaving, but apparently I had.  I was afraid to open my mouth now.  I tensed every muscle to keep myself from trembling.  If Yolanda noticed, she’d figure out why.
If she figured it out, she’d stop me.
Is that such a bad thing?
Yes, most definitely.
I couldn’t risk it.  I couldn’t have Yolanda knowing what I was doing and dragging me somewhere to clean up.  She would take back the cash she’d just given me, and I’d be royally fucked.  I couldn’t let that happen.
“I gotta go,” I said again.  I shouldered past her and out the door, ignoring her calls after me.  I didn’t stop at the bar or acknowledge the fans around me as I left.
I took the cash I’d earned to Max and traded it for all the heroin I could get.  I returned to my apartment and banged up.
Bliss.
Everything was perfect.

Winters bride - SKALAD

Winter's Bride is the first book I’ve read by Nellie C. Lind, and I will definitely pick up another especially in this series.  Winter’s Bride contains all the elements of what I believe makes a great fantasy romance story:

Beautiful cover ~ I simply adore this cover.
Intriguing Plot ~ Becoming the bride of a revered Elder is not without problems.
Interesting Characters ~ I loved the Autumn Lord and Mrs. Olien.
World Building ~ I can visualize the town of Evermore.
Magic ~ The changing of the seasons.
Conflicts ~ Both internal and external conflicts further complicate a very sensitive relationship
Happy Ending ~ The reason we read romance novels

Winter’s Bride is easy to read and incorporates fantasy, science fiction, and romance to teach us that even the coldest heart can warm to love. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t to read the next.

I received this copy from the author via IndieSage PR in exchange for an honest review.

“My L ... I mean, Audren. About what happened yesterday ...”
“Yes, I came here to talk with you about that. As you know, I am the judge of this town, and if a law is broken, I judge.”
“Yes, I know ...” Her nervousness awakened within her again. “But I don't understand why I'm here. I didn't do anything.”
“Can you tell me what happened?”
“Well, after our meeting, I looked for my brother Eric. It took me a while to find him, and when I did, he was arguing with Mira. She had broken our mother's milk bottle, and I told her that she had to repay it. She went crazy and pushed me against the building, and that was when the guards showed up. They arrested us, and here we are.”
“I see. If you think about this from the guards point of view, what do you see then?”
Dawn gave it a thought, and when it hit her, she sighed. “They thought I was in danger.”
“Exactly, and the only way to figure out what was going on was to take all of you here and let me judge you. I have already spoken with Mira and your brother. Now it's your turn. Eric has been sent home, but Mira will stay here a few more days to reconsider her actions. A healer will help her with her anger issues.”
“I have already told you what happened. I don't know what else I can give you.”
A glow in white and light blue colors surrounded his hand. The colors swirled around his hand in slow and harmonic movements. A cold chill went through Dawn when she saw it. She knew what it meant.
“Give me your hand, Dawn.”
Dawn fled from the bed with a squeak and pressed herself against the stone wall as far away from his as possible. Surprise filled his marvelous eyes.
“This isn't going to hurt, Dawn. There will only be a tingling feeling.”
Dawn didn't listen. “Please, don't read my mind. Please, I beg you.”
He got up from the bed and approached her. “Dawn ...”
“Anything, but that, My Lord. Isn't reading Eric's and Mira's minds enough?”
Her desperation rose. He couldn't find out how she felt about him! If he did, her entire world would collapse. He would never be hers, so there was no need for him to know. But if he found out and turned her down, it would break her heart. It would destroy her.
“No,” he said. “I need to see the whole picture, and you don't need to worry. Whatever secret I will see, will remain yours.”
She shook her head and couldn't hold back her tears. “You don't understand. You will find out everything about me ...”
“Yes, that's how this works, Dawn.” He stood in front of her with so much understanding in his beautiful eyes that it made her cry even more.
He raised his hand toward her face and dried away her tears with his thumb. Her body trembled, and she didn't know what to do with herself. She was stuck. The door to the cell was behind him. She hadn't heard him lock it, but she doubted she would reach it before he caught her.
“Everything is going to be all right,” he assured her.
Dawn could only watch as he grabbed her hand. There was nothing she could do to stop him. When she felt the tingling feeling he had mentioned, she closed her eyes and hoped that everything would be over fast. His hand was warm, his touch was firm but gentle. She had no idea what went on inside of him, but silence surrounded them for several minutes.
Eventually, she dared to open her eyes and look at him. She didn't know what to expect when she met his gaze. She assumed he knew everything now. Her love, her devotion, her desire and passion for him was probably no longer a secret.
Yes. He knew.
It was written all over his face.

What people are saying about Winter's Bride....

"This is the lyrical, romantic and erotic story of two very interesting people, from two very different worlds. Can they bridge the gap between his reality and hers? Can love be the force that binds two people and changes two worlds forever? Can this awesome force change centuries-old traditions and culture? This is a wonderfully magical evocation of how two lives can come together and change destiny itself and it will keep you turning the pages to see what becomes of Dawn and her love for Audren and what it is that he feels for her ... the very forces of nature combine to weave this story of profound love in a tapestry of magic, intrigue, and passion." - Jennifer K. Brock
