Author Interview
What was your inspiration for Whole in the Clouds?
As a child I was a bit of a misfit myself. I fantasized that some magical force would whisk me up through the clouds and into another world in the sky—where things were fair and right and everyone was friendly and welcoming; very unlike the classmates who teased & tormented me. Even as an adult I look around and see the greedy and evil-hearted prospering while good people with good hearts go without. I suppose Whole in the Clouds was my embodiment of Karma!
Where were you when you were writing Whole in the Clouds?
At the time I wrote Whole in the Clouds we’d just moved into this enormous A-frame house with an indoor swimming pool. The house was all cedar inside and had been set up as a “party house” as it was once owned by the tour bus driver for the band Motley Crew! I spent many days in that house, surrounded by timber frames like towering fir trees and clear blue water rippling down the hall, immersed in the pages of Whole in the Clouds.
Is there something (like a message or idea) that you want or hope your readers will pull out of Whole in the Clouds?
I hope that readers realize there is love and companionship out there. Simply because you are different from others and they do not accept you, it doesn’t mean that you are in any way faulty. There ARE people out there who will love and accept you, regardless of what your appearance or circumstances may be. In the end, a true heart will shine through.
Pens or Pencils?
Pencils have an eraser. In life, I always need an eraser.
Early Bird or Night Owl?
Early Bird but only because my job mandates it! I could swing either way if granted the opportunity. After all, birds of a feather . . . .
