I’ve sat on this review for some time because I wasn’t sure of how to rate it, finally settling on a three heart rating. The story was interesting enough; it kept my attention but the characters did not connect well with me, and the main plot lost on me. Raine has loved her caretaker “Hammer” for some time. He rescued her after she ran away from her abusive home. However, they live and work in Shadows, a Private BDSM Club. Hammer has this “no one can touch her” attitude over Raine, and though she wants to be trained as a submissive he refuses to train her and won’t allow anyone else to train her. Hammer is called on his attitude by his best friend Liam who swoops in to save Raine from Hammer’s wrath. But when Liam claims Raine, Hammer loses his mind and realizes he loves her and wants her for himself.
This story was more of a bad soap opera scene than a romance novel. There are some sex scenes, but not enough BDSM to claim the title of a BDSM novel. They live in a BDSM club, and there is a whip, a paddle and spanking scene but nothing more. I will read the remaining books because I want to know how the story ends, but I am also hopeful that there is more BDSM in the books to come.
