OVERDUE BOOK REVIEW ❤ Garrett by Sawyer Bennett

TITLE: Garrett
SERIES: Cold Fury Hockey #2)
AUTHOR: Sawyer Bennett
GENRE:  New Adult, Contemporary Romance
SOURCE: Netgalley
PUBLISHED: February 17th 2015 by Loveswept

Carolina Cold Fury star Garrett Samuelson never wants to miss out on a single minute of fun. Whether he’s playing hockey, hanging out with friends, or walking the red carpet with a new date on his arm, he lives every day to the fullest. When he meets Olivia Case, he sees someone who’s exactly his type—confident, sexy, smart . . . his next fling. But the more he pursues her, the more Garrett shares a side of himself that other women don’t normally get to see.

Olivia has been keeping a secret. While Garrett lives for the next thrill, Olivia’s not sure she’ll live to see the next day. She’s undergoing treatment for some serious medical issues, and she doesn’t have time for a relationship with no guarantees—especially one with a hot-as-sin womanizer who won’t take no for an answer. But as she gets to know the real Garrett, Olivia can’t help falling for him . . . hard. To reveal the truth would mean risking everything—but you can’t score without taking the tough shots.

Garrett is the second in the Cold Fury Hockey series. After meeting him in the first book Alex I was excited to learn, we would be getting his story. Garret is a playboy and man whore that is charming and self-assured, and he uses that to his advantage so that he is never without female company. When Garret meets Olivia, he is immediately attracted to her. But Olivia is not having any of that. For the first time, Garrett is turned down, and this intrigues him more.

Surprisingly I liked this story.  I loved that neither Garrett or Olivia were damaged. There wasn’t some mysterious reason as to why Garrett was a manwhore. He just enjoyed sex. Lots of sex with different people.  Olivia reason for being standoffish aren't covered under layers of abuse; she was hiding a major health issue and trying to deal with it on her.  The story did have a bit of insta-love, which is a big NO from me but when faced with Olivia’s health problems it seemed inevitable that they would fall for each other. Garrett fights to stand by Olivia through all of her treatments even when Olivia does her best to push him away.

Garrett’s story is a good addition to the Cold Fury series and it sets up the storyline for next book. If you are a fan of Sawyer Bennett, hockey, and sweet romances, then this is the book for you!
